Mayr-Melnhof i Zeiser won rally in Kumrovec

Austrian crew Niki Mayr-Melnhof and Thomas Zeiser that drove in Ford Fiesta R5 won the Rally in Kumrovec with total time 31:37,7.

“ It was a difficult rally and very different from last year, but we manage to survive and carry on. I am very happy to win again“ said after everything Niki Mayr-Melnhof .

Second place got Croatian crew Krisztian Hideg and Istvan Kerek (Škoda Fabia R5) who are 1:20,2 late for Austrians. But there is another Croatian crew on podium because third are our drivers Zoran Raštegorac i Damir Bruner (Mitsubishi Lancer EVO IX) with total time 35:05,8.

From 56 crews from seven countries that applied, 40 of them came to Kumrovec and three of them did not finished race while one did not even start.

With the end of Kumrovec Rally the Croatian Championship started.

The Austrians are holding on to their lead

The second SS is over and  Austrians Niki Mayer-Melnhof and Thomas Zeiser (Ford Fiesta R5) are still in lead with total time of 8:37,0 minutes . It looks like Niki knows Kumrovec very well because he was celebrating last year as well. The other two positions had chnged a little bit in comparisao to first prologue. Second is Croatian crew Krisztian Hideg and Istvan Kerek (Škoda Fabil R5) that are 0:26,5 behind the leaders while third placed are Zoran Raštegorac and Damir Bruner (Mitsubishi Lancer EVO IX) who set a time of 9:32,2.

 

Two crews did not mamage to finish the SS, while one did not start. Third SS will be driven on relation Donji Škrnik - Gornji Škrnik - Zagorska Sela and it starts at 2:40 PM.

 

Here's what Raštegorac said after the second SS: "It's okay, there's snow on the road, but that's okay. At this speed we can drive to the market, it's nothing spectacular." Mateo Butorac tahr is driving with Luka Raštegorac in Citroen C2R2 Mix is happy with his drive: "It's great, better than we expected, it's hard to ride under these conditions, and I do not know what to expect."

 

It was a lot of peopele here, it was surprising "said Butorac that is fifth after second SS.

Following the two prologues in Tuhelj, the well rested crews have returned to Kumrovec.

The Austrian crew Niki Meyer-Melnhoh and Thomas Zeiser have departed the ceremonial start first in their Ford Fiesta R5 and after them two more R5 cars started, six of R5 cars have announced their presence, but only three of them came, snow kinda ruined their attentions but never mind those three are good reason to come to Kumrovec and watch special stages because on yesterday's prologues many fans arrived

In front of many fans that were standing on snow near the road in Tuhelj The 7th INA Rally Kumrovec started. After first prologue in which the Croatian crew Krisztian Hideg and Istvan Kerek (Škoda Fabia R5) were celebrating.

 

The second prologue gave us winners –them. They were finished with a total time of 5:17,4. Second were Austrians Niki Meyer-Melnhoh and Thomas Zeiser (Ford Fiesta R5), who were slower by 0:11,9 and third place took also Austrian crew Rok Stefan Fritz and Bernhard Ettel that were driving Škoda Fabia S2000 they set a time of 5:27.7.


On schedule tomorrow are special stages that will begin at 10 AM in Kumrovec.

Austrian crew Niki Mayer-Melnhof i Poldi Welsersheimb that drive in Ford Fiesta R5 won the rally in Kumrovec with 26:54,3. Second place got Slovenian crew Rok Turk i Blanka Kacin who are o:46,6 late for Austrians, third are our drivers Juraj Šebalj i Karlo Golub with time 28:19,4.

 

this rall will be remembered by lot of crews that did not manage to end, one of them is Croatian crew Wiliam Prodan i Zoran Raštegorac

 

"We went too fast, it was terrible crash for us" said Prodan.

Third SS is over and twelve crews did not manage to end.
 
Niki Mayer-Melnhof i Poldi Welsersheimb that drive in Ford Fiesta R5 are still leading with time 21:09,7, second place got Slovenian crew Rok Turk i Blanka Kacin who are 0:35,2 late for Austrians, third are our drivers Juraj Šebalj i Karlo Golub with time 22:13,1.
 
The Slovenian crew came back with punctured tire, but they say it is nothing terrible.
 
“ Probably the tire punctured during cutting, but it will be repaired. Nothing special, we did not lose much time. We knew it would be a lot of sand and gravel on the track.
This race was a test, to do something, to prepare. We did not think we can attack, but now we will just ride and we're going to finish. The organization was great as every year “ said Rok Turk after third SS.
Last special stage starts at 4:28 PM.

Second SS is over, like the first one this had also many crews that did not manage to end, eight of them. Among them is Croatian crew Wiliam Prodan i Zoran Raštegorac.

“I drove great, but they stopped us because Prodan had a crash. I am very sorry, I got the rhythm, I felt great. But two more special stages are waiting“ said Juraj Šebalj after second SS.

“We had some problems and we are third, so it is fine. Competition is strong and we are satisfied“ said Juraj Šebalj after first SS. He and Karlo Golub are driving Mitsubishi Lancer EVO IX.

Prologues in Tuhelj are over, drivers are rested and back in Kumrovec. At 9 am they  didi ceremonial start. Hungarian crew, Antal Kovacs i Gergo Istovics in Ford Fiesta R5 started first.

Quite expensive vehicles, with six vehicles R5 Classification will taste roads of Kumrovec. The weather is perfect and four special stages are waiting for crews, SS will start at 10 am. More than enough reasons to come to Hrvatsko Zagorje.

With atractive prologue in Tuhelj and in front of many fans started 6. INA Rally Kumrovec.

The best crew after two prologues is from Austria Niki Mayer-Melnhof i Poldi Welsersheimb with final time 4:23,8 minuta, it is interesting that they drew night race better that the one they drew by day light, Slovenian crew Rok Turk i Blanka Kacin took second place, they were late for 0:09, 1 minutes, third place took Croatian crew Viliam Prodan i Zoran Raštegorac (Peugeot 208 T16 R5). They ended up with time of 4:27, 9 minutes.
Five crews did not managee to finish todays drive, but all drivers will be able to drive tomarrow, as well.
This years addition has gathered crews from six countries and 59 of them passed scrutineering.
After prologues, rally in organization of Auto club Delta from Zagreb will be continued tomarrow with four new SS in Kumrovec.
Crews will have ceremonial start tomarrow at 9:01, and special stages are on schedual after 10 a.m. This years addition has gathered 59 crews from six countries and 41 of them are Croatian.


The specificity of Kumrovec special stages lies in a narrow path with many bends and related pass. It is very often that gravel is on the asphalt so if the orbit of the vehicle is right it throws it on the road. Through years the audience recognizes Rally Kumrovec as an event that brings attractive ride with lots of jumps, and this years attracion is bigger because among the entrants were six car of R5 classification. Each of these vehicles is worth about 250 000 euros.So far the most wins has Hungarian driver Janos Szilagyi who celebreted three times.


The complete itinerary is a little less than 60 kilometers, of which almost 70% are special stages. The competition was entered in the FIA calendar and Croatian Car and Karting Federation, and is rated as the International FIA zone competition, Croatian Championship and Championship HAKS North league.
